good lord, it's a blog!

I've never attempted a blog before, so ... We'll see how it goes. I make no guarantees as to frequency of updates, but I'll try!

I anticipate that the primary use of this blog will be to update those in the great ether of the Internet about all the cute little baby animals that are born here, because really, that's all anyone ever wants to see on a farm blog. (It's all I ever want to see, anyway.) There might be some other important updates here, and maybe some funny stories, if funny things happen, and perhaps some sad updates if anything sad happens, which it's bound to on a farm.

Today, what happened was that it was foggy. And by this I do not mean that it was foggy in the morning, and then cleared out and proceeded to be dreary for the rest of the day. I mean that it was "Silent Hill" foggy for the entire day, to the point where the fog really was an event, a happening. The other thing that happened was that most of the snow melted, and I spent most of the day trying not to slip and fall on the ice and mud. It isn't called Howling Hill for nothing: we really are on a hill, and as it turns out, hills, mud and ice, and tread-less muckers don't mix.

I am not a particularly avid consumer of the "blog-o-sphere;" in fact, one could even say that I eschew it on principal. One of the principals on which I eschew it is that there is no clearly defined writing structure to the "blog entry," at least not that I can see. They appear, by and large, to be some sort of trembling hybrid between a private journal -- rambling, unstructured, occasionally incoherent -- and a news article. The upshot is often long-winded and difficult to follow, lacking the structure of a proper published work.

All that to say, I really don't know how to "conclude" a 'blog post.
